History

Greensteds School was established in 1936 on a 50-acre (200,000 m2) piece of land as a mixed day and boarding school situated 17 kilometres south of Nakuru town, Kenya. The school provides an English curriculum at both IGCSE and A-levels in subjects in the arts ranging from French as second language to mathematics and the sciences.

Sports

The school is involved in sports competing against other Kenyan international schools. In the Michaelmas term, cricket (boys) and rounders (girls) is practised. The second term (Hilary) has hockey as the sport which both sexes practise. In the last term (Trinity) boys practise rugby (as well as football and basketball) while the girls practise net ball. Athletics is practised, particularly before sports day (Michaelmas term). Events include short distances (100 m) and longer distances (1500 m) as well as in long, triple and high jump. The school has a 25 metre long swimming pool, opened in the year 2000, which is the scene of internal and inter-school swimming competitions particularly in Hilary term. Other sports practised are:

Performing Arts== Greensteds school also has a has a highly developed Performing arts department through which music tours featuring an all student band and choir tour numerous locations all over Kenya and abroad promoting causes such as Operation Smile. ==References
